FUP, or Fair Usage Policy, is a set of rules designed to ensure that all users can access the internet fairly.
What is FUP?
If a small number of users consume an extremely large amount of data, it may affect the connection quality of other users.
To prevent this, internet speeds may be temporarily restricted under certain conditions. This is known as FUP.
How FUP may affect WiFiBOX
Even with a WiFiBOX Truly Unlimited plan, your connection speed may be restricted under FUP.
However, most users will not be affected during normal internet use.
General web browsing, social media, and ordinary video streaming are unlikely to trigger a speed restriction.
When might a restriction apply?
Your connection speed may be temporarily restricted if you use an extremely large amount of data within a short period.
Examples include:
- Continuously streaming high-resolution video for an extended period
- Downloading tens of gigabytes of data within a short period
- Connecting multiple devices through tethering and continuously using large amounts of data
How are restrictions applied?
FUP restrictions are not set by WiFiBOX.
They are applied at the discretion of the local network operator.
Therefore, the WiFiBOX Customer Support Center cannot confirm whether a restriction has been applied or when it will be lifted.
